Happy Paws Havanese Minnesota AKC Show Breeder

Where Beautiful Show Dogs Are Also Family Pets

About Happy Paws Havanese

Hello! We are a small hobby breeder just West of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. We are not a kennel and therefore our dogs are never kenneled in a run or live outside. They live in our home with us! (Not to mention they are a *bit* spoiled) We only have a few Havanese and that's all we breed and show. I, Shannon, groom, show, and train our Havanese for the conformation ring; and my mother, Mary, helps with everything. I  showed in AKC Juniors before I reached the age limit. We rarely use professional handlers, so our dogs stand on their own merit.

We've been showing and breeding Havanese since 2004 have several AKC and IABCA Champions, as well as AKC Grand Champions. In addition, we've trained one Hav to be a Therapy Dog, and have dabbled in obedience and agility.

We take pride in our dogs and our accomplishments so never cut corners when it comes to making sure we are breeding the best. We health test all the dogs in our breeding program and complete each dog's CHIC #. We breed only dogs that have competed in the AKC and International conformation rings, with most completing their AKC Championships, and some going on to complete their Grand Champion titles. Because we take the time and effort to have our dogs thoroughly examined and tested, we produce very healthy and happy puppies.

Most of our puppies go as pets, while a few go as show prospects. We only have a few litters a year, so we can devote lots of time and love into socializing and raising our puppies. All of course are vet checked, their eyes are checked, microchipped and are ready for their new homes after 8-10 weeks old. We do not breed for profit (as this doesn't happen!) or to support our show hobby. We focus on producing a better next generation to be placed in excellent pet homes, and to be shown to their highest potential. The best way to adopt a puppy is not through a pet store or from someone that doesn't know what they are doing, but from someone who is invested in the puppy's future health and well-being.

We chose this wonderful breed because we wanted a dog who is hypoallergenic and who does not shed. We happened upon this uncommon breed when a breeder friend of ours had a litter. We were instantly hooked by their beautiful hair, happy personalities, and small size. We also love the variety of colors they come in, and their relatively healthy genetic background. Since meeting our first havanese, we have devoted ourselves to this one amazing breed.

We are always learning and would love feedback! We've already shown other breeders' Havanese and even some other toy breeds. Shannon would love to expand her handling skills and would love to show and groom other Havanese and other breeds as well. If you would like to have Shannon show your dog, contact us!
